“Designing site-specific artworks that integrate an architectural or public environment is an important element in my creative process. My work addresses the context of the site, provides a strong visual identity, and appeals to a diverse community. My most recent public art commissions are fabricated from folded steel (polyurethane or powder-coated finish), weathering steel or stainless steel. The sculptural forms are juxtaposed to create a complex array of spatial relationships that suggest vitality, transitions and movement. The works are stationary, interactive or kinetic. As the viewer walks around or below these artworks each orientation presents a unique visual image.”
“The sustainable process of folding steel plate produces a seamless artwork that requires minimal maintenance. Deep recesses are created within the folds that contrast with the smooth surfaces, resulting in fluctuating patterns of shadow, color and light that change with the seasons.”
